Mary Alford, PE, LEED AP graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters of Engineering, specializing in Environmental Engineering and with additional background in Urban and Regional Planning and Process Engineering. After working in Water and Wastewater for Gainesville Regional Utilities, she moved to Progress Energy as an Environmental Analyst, then in Power Plant Operations Management, and finally in Power Plant Construction, managing environmental compliance. Observing, first hand, the environmental cost of energy production led to a career change to energy optimization and sustainable building practices. Currently the managing principal of the Sustainable Design Group, Mary is the sustainability consultant for Brytan, where three homes were recently awarded LEED Silver Certification. Jennifer Langford, Architect has provided neighborhood and urban design through her company Jennifer Langford, AIA, CNU, PA as well as more traditional residential, commercial, mixed use building design services since 2001. Jennifer graduated from the University of Florida, then studied at the University of Virginia for her Masters of Architecture with a specialty in New Urban Design. After graduation, she was quickly hired to assist in development of the award winning Haile Plantation Village Center. After licensure she developed her own firm and has since amassed a respected and varied portfolio in addition to serving as town architect for the Brytan TND, serving on the architectural review committee for Haile. and assisting local government in a facilitator role for urban infill projects. | Located in Gainesville Florida, the Sustainable Design Group works primarily in Florida and the southeastern United States, but is available for consulting nationwide, and will consider international opportunities.  |
The Sustainable Design Group welcomes affiliates who are willing to work towards making sustainable building and design projects reasonably priced, efficiently and effectively managed, and completed on time and within budget. This requires dedication, hard work, and creative thinking. We are currently considering applications from a civil engineering firm as well as a commissioning agent.
